Confidence among your children happens when your children start doing things for themselves that they once only thought you could do. They begin to realize what they are capable of and how much they can accomplish on their own. This is the key to confidence and self esteem.
When you’re trying to encourage your child’s self esteem, it’s important that you give your child much praise. Anytime your child accomplishes something at school or around the house, tell her just how much you are proud of what she has done. When you praise your child, be sure to be sincere and honest and give them a big smile.
The process of building a child’s self esteem needs to begin as soon as possible. Whenever your toddler starts to talk and say real words or starts to stand up on her own, That’s when you begin telling her how good of a job she’s doing. Your child will then see just how supportive you are of her and she’ll begin to learn that you are always there for her.
You want to continuously give your child more and more responsibilities around the house. The more you give your child to do and the more she accomplishes, the more quickly she’ll develop a positive self esteem. When you can let your child order her own food at a restaurant or write out the invitations for her own birthday party, that helps her gain confidence.
There may be times when your child gets discouraged and tells you that she can’t do something. This is a key point when you need to help her with confidence. Kindly tell her that she can do it, and help her figure out a way how to do it. It’s your job to help her work through the difficulty and gain success. When she accomplishes the goal, be sure to offer praise.
